Consumers warned to stop using Air Fryer brand over safety fears

Consumers are being urged to check if they may have purchased a brand of air fryer online.

A product safety information notice has been issued for the SilverCrest S-18 Oilless Air Fryer.

The air fryer, which was sold on eBay, presents a risk of fire due to the plug's fuse not meeting the requirements of the relevant standard.

The fuse could fail, leading to the plug overheating or igniting, according to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

The brand is SilverCrest, model number is S-18, and the batch number and barcode are unknown.

The CCPC is warning consumers who may have purchased the air fryer discontinue use immediately and discard the product.

"You may wish to contact the eBay seller to see if there are any remedies available to you," the CCPC added.

"This can be done via your user account on eBay."
