"Do we really need a documentary on an appliance?" tweeted one person.

Another asked: "So how much does this cost to make and also WHO IS WATCHING THIS."

One said: "It's not an obsession it's just a food cooking device! What's next? The UK's obsession with toasters or the once a year dalliance with the Breville?"

"Just when I thought programme makers had run out of ideas this little gem arrives," laughed someone else.

"Hundreds of the UK's talented development producers sigh and throw their notepads on a bonfire!" said somebody else, while others posted memes and GIFs of people looking confused.

"This seems in serious danger of turning into an all-night rave," one teased, while another just wrote: "Jesus wept."

Another person was so shocked that they asked if the story was actually fake news.

However, other viewers thought it looked pretty good.

One posted: "Denise Van Outen and an air fryer? That's my idea of a good night in."
