I'm a foodie and I make the ultimate toastie in my air fryer

A FOOD fan has shared how he makes the ultimate toastie in his air fryer - leaving many very impressed.

So if you’re a fan of the Costa ham and cheese toastie but want to know how to make your very own at home in your air fryer, then you’ll need to listen up.

Posting on TikTok under the username @mealswithmax, the food whizz demonstrated how he makes his own toastie - that is not only delicious, but cheap too.

To make one toastie, Max grabbed two slices of bread, three slices of ham, 20 grams of low fat cheddar, 20 grams of low fat mozzarella, five grams of parmesan, one teaspoon of butter, one teaspoon of flour, 100 grams of milk and two tablespoons of low fat mayonnaise.

Explaining how he makes his show-stopping snack, he said: "This would usually cost you almost £5.50 - today we're making it for £1.25.

"Not only is this super quick and easy, it's also almost four times cheaper than if you were to buy it somewhere like Costa."

To start out, Max spreaded his mayonnaise over his bread.

He then added: "Just gonna whack on some of the cheese, here I've got some mozzarella, some cheddar and some Parmesan.

"I’m now going to make a bechamel and to do that we're gonna start off with some butter in the pan and then we're gonna follow that up with some flour.

"Then we're gonna whack in some milk, which I would usually heat up a little bit first, but I'm trying to save a bit of time.

"Then we're gonna season it with some black pepper, a little bit of salt and some garlic powder.

"Give it a mix and then we're gonna whack it on top."

One he had put the bechamel sauce on top, he then added cheese, as he continued: "And then finally whack the cheese on top.

"Then we're gonna whack it into the air fryer or the oven.

"In this case I'm using the air fryer. I put it in the air fryer at 240 degrees.

"We're gonna cook it for about five minutes and then see what it looks."

But Max soon had a realisation and remembered that he had forgotten to add ham, so he quickly removed the toastie from the air fryer and said: "Uh oh, I totally forgot to put the ham in, that would have been upsetting if it had finished without the ham."

Once the ham was added, he put the toastie back in the air fryer.

Then, once the cooking time was up, Max noted: "And we're done. Time to get it out of here.

"Look at this. Honestly, it's literally the best toastie that I've made.

"Lovely."

Max's clip has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed 172,700 views.

It has 6,285 likes, 142 comments, 871 saves and 80 shares.

Social media users were left open-mouthed at the tasty snack and were eager to express this in the comments.

One person said: "Damn that looks so good."

Another added: "That looks insane!"

A third commented: "That looks incredible."

Meanwhile, one food fan noted: "Wow, I definitely need to try this one Max."

Whilst someone else posted: "Totally making this for my lunch today but with bacon as I don't have any ham."
